The holy mass at the Olomouc Cathedral of St. Wenceslaus will begin on Thursday, April 24, at 6:00 PM. This day also marks the feast of St. George in the Czech calendar, the baptismal patron of the pope, whose given name was Jorge. “God gave this pope to the Church and the world as a great gift, calling for authenticity in the lives of the servants of the Church and for a transformation of the hearts of believers and our world,” Archbishop Josef Nuzík stated in his remembrance of the Holy Father yesterday. “I invite all the faithful of the entire archdiocese to join in this service,” he now invites all believers. The holy mass will also be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Olomouc Cathedral.

The following day, Archbishop Nuzík will attend a holy mass, which will be celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo at the Prague Cathedral of St. Vitus starting at 6:00 PM, with other bishops from the Czech Republic also concelebrating.

On Saturday, a funeral for the deceased Pope Francis will take place in the Vatican. The holy mass at St. Peter's Square begins at 10:00 AM, with the main celebrant being the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. Archbishop Nuzík, who is set to assume the role of chairman of the Czech Bishops' Conference next week, will officially represent the bishops of the Czech Republic here.
